Blinds, louvred panels, doors: how to close in your pergola

A louvred roof handles sun and light rain. Crosswinds, neighbours' views and evening chill, though, are dealt with on the sides. Here are the closures available, from lightest to most enveloping.

Curtains, the flexible option

Fabric that slides, opens and ties back: curtains soften the light and create privacy without sealing the space. The curtain kit comes included with the Jopergola Confort; on the Essentiel it is an option from €369. The Essentiel also includes its mosquito net.

Blinds, the screen that drops

A side blind (from €990 on the Signature) drops along the exposed side: windbreak, low-sun shield, privacy screen. Roll it up and it disappears.

Louvred panels, the architectural filter

Vertical, sliding or fixed (from €449 to €2,490 depending on size), louvred panels filter light just like the roof: shade and airflow, without the "closed box" feel. The most architectural of the closures.

Sliding doors, the extra room

Doors (from €1,890) turn one side into a true opening wall. Combined with fixed louvred panels, they draw a summer room that opens wide or closes in one movement.

Our advice

Start from the problem — prevailing wind, neighbours, low sun — and close that side first. Nothing forces you to close everything at once: closures can also be added after installation. Build your configuration online; the technical visit settles the rest.
